Featured by The Ottawa Life Magazine as one of the 2013 Top 25 people in the Capital, Colombian artist Claudia is an Art-Based Facilitator, award-winning Photo-fine- artist and Latin Jazz singer. As member of the Arts Health Network of Canada, Claudia develops art projects for communities in risk through institutions like Youth Service Bureau, Crime Prevention Ottawa, Ottawa Community Housing, OCISO, Operation Come Home, Ottawa Public Library and various Community Resource and Health Centres. After years working as visual artist and professional photographer, Claudia decided to explore the digital tools of Corel Painter and since 2006 is an Elite Painter Master and Corel Painter Certified Instructor.
As recognized Latin Jazz singer and through her annual sold-out concerts at the NAC, she raises funds for kids foundations in her home country Colombia since 2011.
Claudia believes in art and music as a tool for a better society.

New Program Residency Workshop English

Gold Mandalas video"> Mandalas are an ancient artistic technique used in many cultures around the world as an aid to understanding who we are as individuals and as part of the universe around us. The inside of the circle represents our inner world and the outside represents the outer world. Using the technique of Pointillism and basic design elements, students will embellish a geometrical design discovering shapes within shapes and adding volume, contrast and movement to the piece.

BikeArt Workshop

New Program Residency Workshop English

Students will experience how easy is to create pieces of art using recycled materials. Learning how to use hand tools and increasing their awareness of the environment, they will transform bike tubes into jewelry such as earrings and bracelets, or into woven baskets. Materials: $3.50 + HST per student

Plastic Caps Recycling Mural

Residency Workshop English

A colourful mural will be created using reusable plastic caps gathered by the students and by the community around them. With its environmental message, this mural will reach audiences beyond the school’s walls and will embellish the school for years.

Tire Planters (available April, May & June)

Residency Workshop English

Reflecting on the value of recycling for our environment, participants will transform 30 old tires into planters to beautify the school and schoolyard. The planters’ designs will be inspired by Canada’s history, flora or fauna, classical or modern art or other global subjects and will be painted using durable all-season paint.
