Deidre Hierlihy

Available September - December 2018 & May 21 - June 2019
I am a printmaker. I work a variety of print media including linocut, lithography, drypoint and collograph. What captures my visual imagination about a space determines what media I use.
Much of my current work is black and white linocut print. Linocut encourages a simplified graphic vision. This medium allows me to focus my attention on and express the patterns that surround us.
Recent work in lithography encourages attention to colour, both real and imagined. Drawing is the basis for my printmaking practice, and lithography expresses my joy in the communicative possibilities of the drawn mark, and in the possibilities of colour.
As well as presenting workshops through MASC, I teach printmaking for adults and mixed media for children at the Ottawa School of Art.  I also coordinate the children and teen program at OSA.
