Eleanor Crowder

Eleanor Crowder is a theatre innovator. Delighted to find new ways to connect with audiences, she brings the joys of theatrical exploration to your computer screen.

Playwright, performer and director, she introduces you to core theatre skills virtually or in person.  She has worked with young artists and adults across cultures in Ghana and the Sudan; in The Yukon, and  indigenous communities of Northern Ontario; in rural eastern Ontario and the urban centres of Ottawa and Toronto.

You may know her work at The Gladstone Theatre with indie company Bear & Co., or in parks across Ottawa for the past 25 summers. Whatever the theatre space -- a rope on the ground, a piece of cloth in your hand, or a Zoom screen --Eleanor focuses on the teller, their story, their choice of communication.  She draws deep creativity from each participant.

Her plays have toured Ontario schools for 25 years reaching half a million students. Her work was recognized with the 2002 Victor Tolgesy Award for Contribution to the Arts in Ottawa.
