My name is Emily Rose Michaud and I'm a visual artist and educator who works to make cultural programming more present in schools. I specialize in art + nature projects, and since 2004, I've offered visual art workshops in and out of the institution, as well as worked with youngsters, teens, adults and seniors in all media, for leisure, as emotional outlet, education, and portfolio development.

School Workshop: Living Tapestries

New Program Residency Workshop English French Immersion

Students will explore the life cycle of plants (from germination to dryness), through the creation of living art, and will design their own living tapestry inside or outside, using natural materials such as seeds and burlap.

School Workshop: DIY Pigments & Paint

New Program Residency Workshop English French Immersion

Creating our own paint is fun and reconnects us to our art materials. Produce an archival (permanent), artist quality paint, based on age old recipes used throughout art history, and learn basic painting techniques, using mineral and earth-based pigments. Participants will produce a unique piece of art to bring home.

School Residency: Collective Mural Residency

Collective murals forge our sense of community, identity, and contribute to a greater sense of belonging and engagement with our environment. In this mural residency, participants will create a site-specific mural from beginning to end (conception, design, drawing, planning, painting).

School Workshop - Drawing – Reflections on Water

Have you ever looked at a water molecule under a microscope? There are six sides, just like a snowflake. In this drawing workshop, students will create a six-sided hexagon with a center pattern. Based on reflections from the micro to the macro cosmos, this pattern can be found in nature as seen in biology, geology, chemistry, physics and astronomy. Students will sketch drawings to learn more about water. They will be encouraged to complete their work at home after the workshop.

Learn to think backwards! Lino block printing is an engraving technique where material is carved away from a piece of linoleum to reveal an image. Students will be led through design, cutting, and printing stages to make their own print, which can be used for handmade greetings cards, stamps or other creations.
