Jimmy Baptiste New

Jimmy Baptiste is a father, youth educator/facilitator, graphic artist, curator and muralist.  His work is inspired by the imaginative world of tattoos, graffiti, typography, manga culture, and comic books. These elements have helped him to develop a unique aesthetic that embraces strong imageries and vibrant visual compositions.
With more than 15 years of experience as a professional artist, Jimmy offers art workshops and creative projects that include curated exhibits and community-media projects. With his unique approach to education, he aims to build a sense of ownership and belonging in schools and communities, using murals and graffiti to engage people of all ages in a positive skill-building experience.

New Program Residency Workshop English French Immersion

This graffiti workshop introduces students to different typographies, lettering styles, lines, textures, fun printing techniques, and colour harmony to create a tag that represents their personality. This ancient form of art, encourages creativity, self-confidence and builds community among students from diverse ages and backgrounds.

New Program Residency English French Immersion

Students will learn image transfer techniques and explore a variety of typographies and collage. Students will take pictures of themselves or online images and transfer them to canvas or wood panel. They will then use different fonts and aesthetic techniques to create a work that reflects their identity.

School Residency: Graffiti Mural

New Program Residency English French Immersion

This collective mural will be inspired by themes and subjects coming from the students. Throughout the residency, students will learn the basics of graffiti design and techniques to paint large-scale murals. The project aims to beautify the environment and build a sense of belonging among young people.
