NumerARTcy Nov 17 Grab.pngSixty teachers from the OCDSB gathered at Confederation Education Centre on Monday, November 6th for NumerARTcy: a day of professional development workshops with MASC artists, drawing links between the arts and numeracy. Some created beautiful Gold Mandalas with Claudia Salguero, exploring the geometric shapes within shapes, creating art pieces with pattern, contrast and movement. Others worked with Kate Settle, exploring shape, scale, symmetry and form through the lens of a camera. And others worked with Leo Brooks, playing Boomwhackers, exploring rhythms and playing simple songs while subdividing musical time into units or fractions. Many thanks to these wonderful MASC artists for offering such creative and pertinent workshops and to the support of the OCDSB Arts and Math Instructional Coaches in adding their expertise in establishing the many links between the arts and numeracy.
