About this program
The residency explores traditions and their origins using a combination of Animation and Gumboots dance. Gumboots is a dance born in South Africa with roots in many other countries. Through storytelling students explore the different ways this tradition might have arrived in South Africa. Using paper and other materials students create a short animated video, lead by Tina Le Moine. Incorporating these stories into a choreography, students develop a short rubber boots dance lead by Just Aïssi. At the end of the workshop students present both dance and animation to the class or the whole school depending on space.
Artists:
Just Aïssi ( Gumboot artist)
