About this program

Hip Hop is the most popular culture in the world and has drawn in people from every part of the globe. It’s about knowledge, unity, and fun. This workshop helps you get ideas from your mind onto paper in a way that feels good to say out loud.

In Intro For Writing and Performing Rap, participants are guided through a songwriting process where they can learn and practice rapping techniques that lead them to write bars that they believe in. Participants will be organized into smaller groups and assigned a shared topic for a song. Zoey will encourage and help participants to write a verse or a hook. The facilitator will go from group to group and help them finesse their timing and get them out of any situation they feel creatively trapped in.

Each group will have created 4 – 8 bars on their own that will be used to contribute to a song the whole class is singing to. After this workshop, the class will have non-exclusive use to an original instrumental.
