About this program
Collective murals forge our sense of community, identity, and contribute to a greater sense of belonging and engagement with our environment. In this mural residency, participants will create a site-specific mural from beginning to end (conception, design, drawing, planning, painting).
Curriculum Links
Explore environmentally and socially engaged art, cultivate agency on ecological issues, foster creative confidence, independent thought, deepen artistic skills. Suitable for subjects in art and nature (earth sciences, ecology, biology, geography, history). Working with colour, texture, drawing, perception, measurement; explore the relationship between person and place.

Five full-day residency: $3,000* + HST + Material and production fees to be determined + HST**
*Mural: approx. 4x8 ft. (the surface must be prepared before the artist arrives)
- Day 1: Artist setup and outline
- Day 2, 3, and 4: paint with students in small groups (maximum 40 students per day)
- Day 5: final touches (a small selection of students might help the artist finish the mural)
For mural projects with more than 120 participants, additional days must be added.
- Each additional day: $500 + HST
Published fees are for schools; fees for other settings are subject to change.
Venues over 25km from Ottawa centre will be charged a travel fee for artist's transportation costs.
**As every project is different, a meeting with the artist is required to determine the theme, dimension of the mural, materials, the number of participants, and the number of days required to complete the project.
