Arts Education & Impact Development Associates (2 positions) 

Overview 

MASC is seeking two full-time contract staff to support the development of artist study guides, cultural learning materials, and evaluation systems aligned with our organizational Theory of Change. These roles will play a key part in strengthening how MASC communicates the impact of its programming and supports educators, artists, and participants. 

Position Details

  • Contract Duration: 10 weeks (full-time)
  • Start Date: Flexible start between June 1 and June 16
  • Compensation: $27/hour
  • Work Location: Remote
  • Schedule: Standard full-time hours (40 hours/week)

Position 1 (Study Guide & Content)


Key Responsibilities

Study Guide & Content Development

  • Review sample guides and follow for consistency, accessibility, and educational value
  • Revise all 152 English + 106 French study guides: enhance the curriculum links so they are discipline specific; include more details for the pre and post activities
  • Create new study guides for 9–10 new artists, aligned with MASC’s existing format and standards

Cultural Content Development

  • Develop in-depth cultural context study guide components for approximately 35 artists offering cultural programming, including:
    • Historical and cultural background
    • Contextual framing for educators and students
    • Age-appropriate learning connections
  • Conduct consultations with artists to ensure accuracy, authenticity, and respectful representation
  • Ensure all materials are accessible, curriculum-aligned, and adaptable for classroom use

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Background in arts education, curriculum development, or a related field
  • Strong research, writing, and synthesis skills
  • Experience working with artists, educators, or cultural organizations
  • Strong understanding of the Ontario school curriculum
  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and culturally responsive practices

Requirements

  • Candidates must have access to a reliable computer and internet connection
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Availability for virtual meetings during standard working hours
  • Funding by Canada Summer Jobs requires candidates be between 15–30 years old and be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons with refugee protection status.
  • Proficient in English and French

Position 2 (Evaluation & Strategy)


Key Responsibilities

Theory of Change Development

  • Support the development and refinement of MASC’s Theory of Change across:
    • School programming
    • Community programming
    • Festivals and events
  • Translate program goals into clear outcomes and impact statements
  • Align content and evaluation tools with organizational priorities and intended outcomes

Evaluation Tools & Systems Design

  • Review and revise evaluation forms for festivals and programs, ensuring alignment with the Theory of Change
  • Design differentiated tools for key interest holders (students, educators, artists, partners)
  • Develop a timeline and workflow for evaluation tool creation and deployment across the year
  • Create a rubric for evaluating artists and programming, considering:
    • Artistic quality
    • Educational impact
    • Cultural authenticity and relevance
    • Participant engagement

Data Analysis Framework

  • Design a system for collecting, organizing, and analyzing evaluation data, including:
    • Standardized data collection processes
    • Methods for qualitative and quantitative analysis
    • Templates for reporting findings
  • Propose approaches for translating evaluation data into insights and storytelling (e.g., reports, impact summaries)
  • Ensure the system is practical, scalable, and usable by staff beyond the contract period

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Background in program evaluation, arts education, social sciences, or a related field
  • Strong analytical, research, writing, and synthesis skills
  • Experience developing evaluation frameworks, tools, or impact measurement systems
  • Experience working with artists, educators, or cultural organizations
  • Ability to translate program goals into measurable outcomes and insights
  • Understanding of equity, diversity, and culturally responsive practices
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
