Cindy Morquette 

About the Artist

Originally from Haiti, Cindy is a dancer and creative educator currently living in Ottawa, Ontario. She started dancing while in school with the dance group her friends and herself created. To perfect her craft, she decided, after graduating high school, to take dance classes such has ballet, jazz, hip hop but has always but emphasis on Haitian Folklore which is a cultural, very rich Haitian dance form danced with live drums.  

She participated in countless professional shows including a national tour with Haiti en Scene, an art organisation, in a Haitian cultural adaptation of the famous Notre Dame de Paris by Luc Plamondon. She was also a member of two well known dance companies in Haiti: Compagnie de dance Jean Rene Delsoin (COJRD) and Artimoun. In 2013, she opened her own dance school Espace Chrysalide and organized six successful dance recitals.   

With a master’s degree in Dance Science and Education from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, her goal is to codify Haitian Folklore and make it known worldwide.
