Celebrating and Showcasing MASC Artists

On September 27 and 28, 2026, MASC brought together a selection of artists from our roster at La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins for two exciting days of professional photography, filming, performances, demonstrations, and storytelling.

The MASC Artist Video & Photo Shoot was created to shine a spotlight on the talented professional artists at the heart of our programming and to capture the creativity, knowledge, and passion they bring to schools and communities.

Over the course of the two-day shoot, participating artists stepped in front of the camera to reflect on the unique and creative experience they bring through MASC, the passion behind their practice, the artistic, cultural, and educational dimensions of what they do, and the connections they build with students and communities

Participating artists included Mubarak Farah Trio, School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO), Oto-Wa Taiko, Aurore Liang, D-Track, Marc Walter, JustJamaal ThePoet, Julianne Lavertu, Sarah Argue from Rock the Arts Puppets, and Stephanie Babij.

The result is a growing collection of vibrant new photographs and short videos that will help teachers, schools, community partners, and audiences discover MASC artists and learn more about their workshops, programs and performances.

A heartfelt thank you to all the MASC artists who took part in the shoot and shared their time, creativity, and stories with us.

Behind the Scenes

There was plenty happening beyond the finished photographs and videos. Across both days, our cameras also captured candid moments from the set — artists preparing to perform, sharing their work, connecting with one another, and having some fun along the way.

Explore the photos and behind-the-scenes reels below for a look at how the project came together.

Special thanks to La Nouvelle Scène Gilles Desjardins for welcoming MASC and providing the space for these two inspiring days.
