Laser-Cut Wooden Mural

This mural workshop is designed to bring an entire school community together through creativity, collaboration, and public art. The project combines a large-scale mural with interactive woodcut art pieces, giving every student the opportunity to participate in a meaningful and hands-on way.

Before the mural begins, custom laser-cut wooden shapes are created based on themes chosen by the school. These can include birds, fish, animals, the school mascot, symbols of the community, or other meaningful imagery connected to the students and school identity. The woodcut pieces are delivered to the school ahead of time and distributed by teachers to classrooms.

Each student is then invited to paint, colour, and personalize their own wooden piece using their creativity and artistic style. This process allows every student to contribute individually to the final mural, regardless of age or artistic experience.

Once the mural painting begins, schools can choose between two participation options:

Students actively helping paint sections of the mural alongside the artist

The mural being completed by the artist independently while students participate through the woodcut component

After the mural is completed, all of the student-created woodcut pieces are permanently attached to the mural surface using professional-grade concrete adhesive. The result is a vibrant, textured public artwork that represents the creativity and involvement of the entire school community.

This workshop creates more than just a mural — it creates a collaborative legacy piece where every student leaves their mark. The final artwork becomes a lasting symbol of school pride, teamwork, creativity, and community participation.
