About this program

Two Oto-Wa Taiko members will share the joy and energy of taiko (Japanese drumming) by demonstrating different styles of taiko playing and having participants learn basic rhythms by singing and playing them, using their voices and movements. Participants also learn various elements of Japanese culture, such as language, clothing and traditions.

Oto-Wa Taiko will provide 4 to 6 taiko in different sizes, with different types of stands, various traditional percussion instruments (Chappa, Atarigane, Hyoshigi, Uchiwa), drumsticks and buckets to follow on the activity. All students will have an opportunity to play the traditional drums.
